Web Consultant and Developer

My main responsibility as a consultant was completely redesigning and developing the church’s website with a strong emphasis on user experience and user interface. I led multiple one-on-one requirement gathering sessions and conducted user walkthroughs to better understand the client’s business processes, workflows, and specific needs. I helped analyze the technologies currently used by the church and provided knowledge and guidance to other development team members. I researched multiple church management system vendors to assist in the analysis of their products. In addition to reviewing the technologies currently used, I evaluated the church’s current brand strategy and developed a roadmap of improvements for the client staff moving forward.

Web Development Intern

Jackson - Summer 2018

At Jackson I worked with full time associates and interns to convert the front end of an application to PrimeFaces to eliminate technical debt. I learned the intricacies of working on a team in a corporate environment when team members are located in multiple cities. I contributed to many facets of the project including planning, sketching, mapping user flow of current and designed applications, conducting user research, wireframing, approving quality assurance requirements, and building out the front end of the application.

Community Engagement Associate

American Music Channel - September 2018 - Present

My senior year I was a research assistant at Lipscomb and worked with American Music Channel, a social networking site designed to connect emerging and independent artists, songwriters, and industry professionals. I worked with members of the site and created content including interview summaries and photographs from concerts and interviews. My team conducted research on the effects of changing variables on user engagement and presented at our university’s Student Scholars Symposium.

Athletics Marketing Student Worker

Lipscomb University Athletics - October 2015 - Present

Throughout my four years at Lipscomb University, I worked in the athletics department as an athletics marketing student worker. I learned the details of game management working D1 university basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, and softball games. Using my graphic design experience, I designed promotional posters that were posted around the university campus and promotional graphics for the social media accounts of university teams.

Diverse Student Coalition at Lipscomb University - Sept 2017 - May 2019

The Diverse Student Coalition was founded at Lipscomb University in the fall of 2017, at the beginning of my junior year. I joined right away, eager to hear the stories of people who are different than me and learn what I can do to help all people have just opportunities. Over the two years I was a member, I participated in service activities, cultural events, and campus activities.

White House Custom Colour - Summer 2016, 2017 and Winter 2016, 2017

During my summer and winter breaks in 2016 and 2017, I worked at White House Custom Colour, a professional photo lab located in Minnesota. I experienced a wide variety of processes in product production at both the warehouse and the main professional photo lab.

Library Shelving Assistant

My junior and senior year of high school I worked at the public library as library shelving assistant. My main job was shelving books and straightening up shelves, but I also pulled holds and chose books to display in different areas of the library. I earned an Employee Recognition for Teamwork award in the summer of 2014 after a particularly busy and successful summer reading program ended.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

I love finding problems and seeking out multiple solutions. Most problems do not have one right solution, so I love optimizing solutions to make them as efficient as possible.

Detail-Oriented and Organized

Working two jobs while being a full time student requires being organized to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. In user experience, attention to detail is critical in both research and design.

Strong Communication Skills

Communication is the key to getting everyone on the same page. Often the focus is placed on speaking and writing, but I believe listening is as important or more important when working on a team.

Teamwork

I have worked on many teams in corporate and educational settings as a web developer, team leader, user experience consultant, and project manager. I strive to encourage and support the people on my team.

Technical Skills

Programming Languages

HTML, CSS, Java, PrimeFaces, Bootstrap, PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery. My experience with web development programming languages gives me a strong foundation for developing applications using a variety of tools.

Adobe Creative Suite

Mainly Photoshop and Illustrator experience, some InDesign experience. I created promotional graphics and posters for my university's collegiate D1 athletics program.

User Experience Design

User experience is a critical piece of designing websites and applications, and I love hearing from users and incorporating their feedback into the design.

Proofreading and Editing

Poor written communication is a huge barrier to success. I love helping others refine their written work to tell their stories as impactfully as possible.
